Our Elders

Grace Community Church functions under the leadership of a council of elders/pastors who are equal in authority and specialized in function. The elder council currently consists of two vocational elders/pastors, Nelson Berrios and Kevin Wilhoit, and two non-vocational elders/pastors, Mark Scimeca and Adonis Carrasquillo. Collectively, the elders oversee and share the pastoral work of the church.

Nelson Berrios was born and raised in East Chicago, Indiana.  Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the Navy and later received a commission in the Army Reserves in San Bernardino, California.  He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Management from Southern Illinois University, a Teaching Credential from California Baptist University, and a Master’s Degree in Religion from Liberty University.  He has worked as a medical clinic manager, group home child counselor, correctional and law enforcement officer, and public high school teacher.  While working as a full-time teacher in California, he was the pastor of Iglesia Cristiana Gracia Soberana in Ontario, California from 2012 to 2022.  Upon his retirement from teaching in June, 2022, he moved to Kissimmee, Florida.

Nelson is passionate about evangelism, teaching and preaching Christ-centered doctrine, and equipping each church member for works of service as servants in the Kingdom of Christ.  He strongly believes that a pastor is a servant of servants, an under-shepherd of the Chief-Shepherd Jesus Christ, and an ordinary man who has been prepared and chosen by God’s grace to care for and serve those who belong to Christ – the church.

Nelson has been married to Iris since 2009.  God was very gracious to Nelson when He gave him the perfect wife for a minister – a wife who fears and loves the Lord, who is caring, loving, and very supportive.

They married and now have five children: Ailanee, Adonis, Aaliya, Azrael, and Avlyn. They have nine children: Kristen, Laura, Sarah, Luke, Boaz, Jubilee, Jonathan, Jeremiah, and Josiah, including four adopted from Ethiopia. Mark has practiced law for over 30 years in Florida. Mark has a passion for promoting pastoral education, family devotions, and multi-generational faithfulness in the Church (Deuteronomy 6:4-9).

Kevin Wilhoit holds an undergraduate degree from Penn State University and a Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary.  He is originally from western Pennsylvania, where he worked in construction, was a committed member of a local church, and was involved in lay ministry.  After concluding that God was calling him into full-time ministry, Kevin and his family moved to Florida in 2009 to attend seminary.

Kevin’s passion is to see the Kingdom of God expand among the people of Grace Community Church, the greater community of St. Cloud, and to the ends of the earth, by being a faithful under-shepherd of the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. He strives to connect the riches of Christ to our everyday lives through faithful preaching, teaching, and discipleship, in order to establish the hearts of God’s people in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Kevin has been married to Brooke since 2000, and they have three children: Leah, Kaelin, and Nathan.
